Healthy Tomorrows Community Outreach

SMGF and Our Partners Work Together to Help Neighbors Near and Far

As part of our mission to provide a strong foundation for healthy communities near and far, SMGF and its partners join together to deliver assistance to children and families in need. Thanks to the generosity of many in the Summit Medical Group community, we help organize timely charitable initiatives to serve the communities where we live and work, as well as those farther away that are in need due to tragic circumstances.

Toy Drive

Embracing the True Meaning of the Holidays

Every child deserves a bright and happy holiday season, which is why SMGF and Summit Medical Group employees partner with the Boys & Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic and the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges to host a toy drive each year.

Most recently, new toys were donated to more than 1,000 children ages 5 to 16, bringing smiles to the faces of each child in the Boys & Girls Clubs, Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges, FOCUS Hispanic Center for Community Development, Inc., SDA Church of the Oranges Food Pantry and Solid Rock Baptist Church Food Pantry.

Backpack Drive

More Than Just Pens and Paper

SMGF hosts a backpack drive to help local children prepare for a successful school year. With the help of many in our community, including volunteers from Summit Medical Group’s 80 locations, we stuffed 875 backpacks with needed school supplies in 2017. Each year, the backpacks are distributed to the Boys & Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic and the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges, giving children a great start to the school year.

Holiday Meals

Sharing the Joy

Each November, Summit Medical Group Foundation hosts a Holiday Turkey Drive to help spread joy to families in need during the holiday season. Summit Medical Group patients, employees and community members are invited to participate. Non-perishable items are dropped off at any SMG location and delivered to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey-the state’s largest anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization.

In addition, individuals are invited to purchase a “plate” at any of SMG’s cafés or online. Each plate is $5, a donation that helps provide 15 holiday meals through the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
