Imagine having the opportunity to “test” out a career before you fully dive into the education and training needed to pursue it.
In SMGF’s Healthcare Professional For A Day program, high school students are given an opportunity to see first-hand what healthcare professionals do each day. The program includes a full-day of immersive learning experiences with a variety of healthcare professionals at one of Summit Medical Group’s (SMG) facilities, preparing young students for a future in medicine and helping them determine a specific path to pursue in college.
The program is available to any high school in New Jersey and is meant to enhance students’ traditional school experience by offering hands-on activities, such as surgical suturing and interacting with SMG professionals. Students also have the opportunity to ask questions in an open forum session with SMG healthcare professionals over lunch. “Our students love the hands-on nature of the Healthcare Professional For A Day program and came away enthused and excited about all the available opportunities,” explained a recent teacher from New Providence High School.
